Legally, a ‘peppercorn’ is a very small payment used to satisfy the requirements for the creation of a legal contract. The term isn’t too far fetched for our purposes: months ago, we created a friendly competition that’s held monthly (‘contract’, very loosely) and we bring food (thus satisfying the payment required for the creating of said ‘contract’) for all to enjoy, and for all to judge.
