I took a trip back to NC late Friday night to be with my bestest bud. She’d had surgery this past Thursday. Did she expect me to be there? No. Did she want me to be there? Well, maybe, but she would have never asked. But did I want to be there and know that I really did need to be there? You bet – and I wouldn’t have missed it for anything. Although I know we’re far in distance, I know I’m never too far to be there when I need to be. My best friend and I for the most part, we grew up together. Can I please have another helpin’, Aunt Faye?

My first blog post…. so much pressure. It wouldn’t be MY blog if I didn’t begin with an ode to my Aunt Faye. Unfortunately, she lives in the middle of nowhere and is quite the old-fashioned lady, so she’ll never even know that she’s on the internet! ha! But anyway, if I had to think back to who really had me loving food it would have to be her. If someone asked you who your greatest cooking influence was, most would say “my mom” or “someone on Food Network” or something like that. Not for me – it all began in a small dome-shaped house in Duplin County, North Carolina. So my Aunt Faye is one of the sweetest, most loveliest people you’d ever meet.
