Shrimpin’ Ain’t Easy

I guess I should clarify. What I mean to say, is that getting fresh shrimpin’ ain’t easy. At least if you live in the Midwest it isn’t. Let me remind you, or inform you if you are newly reading, that I’m a Southern girl. I’ve been living in the Midwest for almost 5 years now (yikes! that’s longer than I thought until I typed it!), and unfortunately most of my Southern twang has dissipated. It hurts me to say that, but it’s quite true. Now, catch me for the first week back from a trip to NC, and you’ll hear it, nice & thick, but only briefly. That’s my family and best friend rubbing off on me. I love it! You should hear my BF say something as simple as window. It goes “WIN-DoooW” or something like that. And insurance is “IN-sur’nce”. Our Biscuits are Better than Your Biscuits

You can tell, from the lack of blog posts alone, that school is in session. Not that I’m posting every day or anything, and the influx of posts about Napa doesn’t count, but I have started this blog with some fire underneath, if you know what I mean. But now, I’ve gone what feels like an eternity (but is only a puny 4 days) without posting. And that’s because I’ve started the 3rd quarter of my year-long culinary school program at Kendall College. I don’t even know that I’ve mentioned culinary school much, except on the left screen by calling myself a culinary student. That could have meant anything though – because in a sense we are all culinary students, constantly learning about food, cooking, and reinventing recipes and techniques.
