2011: Change is Good

After what actually felt like a loooooong Holiday Vacation, we are back in San Francisco. And truthfully, I suppose it was a long vacation, compared to the recent Holiday trips. I think we were both craving some quality family time, what with not seeing most of our families at all since last Christmas – an occurrence we don’t hope to repeat this year (maybe a New Year’s resolution that’s actually doable?!). We spent most of our time in NC ping-ponging between our two families and ended the vacay in Chicago for New Year’s. As if this really needs saying, we hit up some of our old favorite eateries (The Pit in Raleigh, Bonsoiree & Xoco in Chicago) and tried out a long-time spot on my list, The Lantern in Chapel Hill as well as Avec in Chicago. One for the Road

If you ever wanted to go on the weirdest vacation ever, get yourself to Chicago, rent a car, and drive down to New Orleans. Stop at strange wineries where the wine pourers forget to zip their pants, visit cities that are semi-cool but littered with great beverages, food, and occasional sites (like an arch where you can get into a pod and shoot up to the top – holla!), and without a doubt, grab some Rainbow Twizzlers to keep you going. Make sure you have your “fat pants” with you though, because by the middle of the week, you’ll need them. But first, see a great friend’s nuptials. Hang out with your old work buddies.
