New. Year.

It is hard to believe that 2013 is here, but nonetheless, I’m excited for it! I think it’ll be a great one.

I know it’s been a while, which should mean I have a new tasty recipe to share, but I must admit this is the first time I’ve logged into this website since before the Holidays. It’s just that those Holidays, fun as they are, are full of traveling by air and car and once we did finally land back here in Cali, there was more fun to be had in the way of New Year’s Eve partying and cooking.

I will have a recipe soon, probably from that party where I cooked an Argentine feast (MEAT!!), but just give me a minute.

First, a few “goals” for 2013. Resolutions never seem to work for me. So instead, I’m writing some looser, more long-term goals.

  1. Run 500 miles in 2013. I can barely call myself a runner, and quite honestly, I don’t think I’ve run half that many miles in the last 2 years, but I still think this is reasonable – it’s ~10 miles a week, right?! And really, the hard part isn’t running 10 miles in a week, it’s that I know there will be weeks when I slack off and I’ll have to make up for those missed miles. Again, it’s a goal. Not gonna go crazy over it, but we’ll see how it goes. My crazy friend, Jennifer, set a goal of running that much in a few months. THAT is nuts! But she’s hardcore.
  2. Finish all of our Stairway Walks. Remember that book we bought that had all the awesome walks in San Francisco up and down big staircases? We’ve done, I think, 11 of the 29 walks. I think we can finish them this year. They are so fun, and such a great way to learn about the city and all the neighborhoods.
  3. Take a picture every day. I’ll post them here, sometimes weekly and probably sometimes a little less often. Fun times!
  4. Go somewhere awesome. I like having that goal every year. This year we’re shooting for an earlier vacay, but I think it will be awesome regardless!

1 – Tange knows how to start the year off right! nustled between ma and pa 😉

2 – the morning commute fog was so thick I had to pull over and take a picture.

3 – AT-ATs (do I get nerd points for that?!) on the way to the Caltrain station.

4 – I should have fluffed it up more, but I am in love with my new scarf. Thanks, in-laws!

5 – Stairway Walk #24 had a rainy finish (Bernal Heights Park). But #23 will take us back there!

6 – Last time I had plans to go here, my train was delayed for 2 hours! This time was much easier.
7 – gorgeous after-work run through campus. Cali sunsets are the best.
